Start at Anguk

Use Anguk on Seoul Line 3 and follow Exit 3 for the Bukchon Cultural Center, 37 Gyedong-gil. The city guide lists about516 metres; allow more time for crossings and finding the lane.
- Bukchon is not Namsangol Hanok Village. Save both the cultural centre name and address, then use it as the first map pin rather than following a crowd uphill.
Read the local map

From the cultural-centre area, locate your chosen lane on the posted visitor map. Gyedong-gil and Bukchon-ro11-gil are different streets; the roof-view lanes can involve hills and narrow sections.
- Use the red-zone boundary on the current official map. A photograph of a pretty lane is not permission to enter a private courtyard or an unsigned passage. Turn back if the public route is unclear.
Choose transport only
A valid single ticket or a supported stored-value card pays for the subway. The optional Tmoney product below is an airport-pickup card, not a Bukchon admission ticket or unlimited pass.
- Already in Seoul? Compare buying a card locally. For airport collection, match terminal, desk hours and the card-only versus preloaded option; sightseeing and paid craft activities are separate.
Walk during visitor hours

For the restricted residential red zone, plan tourist visits within10:00–17:00. The city's special-management notice also calls Sunday an alleyway rest day; choose another day for the residential lanes.
- Check the dated official notice and on-site boundary signs before entering. Do not copy a dawn or night photograph as an itinerary: access restrictions apply even if a lane has no gate.
Leave quietly

Walk on public lanes in a small group, speak softly and keep entrances clear. Photograph roofs and street views without aiming through open doors or windows; carry rubbish out.
- Save the return pin for Anguk before taking another turn. Rejoin Gyedong-gil and follow station signs; if your route descends elsewhere, check the map rather than assuming every downhill lane leads to Exit3.
