Namba to Hommachi

Namba station entrance 11

From Osaka Metro Namba M20, take the Midosuji Line north toward the Umeda/Shin-Osaka side. Pass Shinsaibashi M19 and get off at Hommachi M18.

  • Namba is shared by several operators. A station entrance photograph is a location reference; look for Osaka Metro and the red Midosuji M symbol before entering.
  • Plan to change inside the paid metro area at Hommachi. You are not taking the Nankai airport train or a JR service.

Change for Osakako

Osakako C11 station name and neighbouring stations

At Hommachi, follow the green Chuo Line C signs toward Yumeshima. Get off at Osakako C11; do not remain on the train to the waterfront terminus.

  • Use the next-station and stopping display as well as the direction name. Older photos may show former terminus wording.
  • Kaiyukan's official access guide uses Osakako Exit 1 and an approximately five-minute walk. Follow Tempozan Marketplace and the large Ferris-wheel landmark, then the aquarium entrance signs.
  • For lifts, check the current station map rather than assuming Exit 1's stairs are the only way out.

Check admission

Choose the aquarium date and entry time before arranging the rest of your afternoon. Kaiyukan uses variable ticket pricing, so an old price screenshot is not today's fare.

  • Match adult, school-age and young-child categories to your party. On the linked ticket page, ages 0–2 are free, 3–6 and 7–15 have different categories, and 16+ use adult admission.
  • Read the issued voucher's entry or exchange process and cancellation conditions. Official Webket tickets and reseller orders need not have identical change rules.
  • Aquarium admission does not automatically include the Ferris wheel, a boat ride or a behind-the-scenes activity.

Follow the exhibits

The main visit progresses from upper exhibits down around the large Pacific Ocean tank. Compare animals at different depths rather than rushing to one whale-shark window and leaving.

  • The whale-shark and jellyfish images show different viewing experiences. Let each person choose one exhibit to watch for a few minutes instead of planning only photo stops.
  • Keep flash off and follow the aquarium's current photography and visitor rules. Do not block the passage while waiting for an animal to swim closer.
  • Feeding times and special activities can change; use the day's official schedule rather than promising a particular encounter.

With children

Decide where to store bulky bags and whether to use a carrier before the busy viewing areas. The official family guide recommends using the free stroller storage when practical because the exhibits can be crowded.

  • The aquarium's nursing and baby-care information is linked below. Check it before entering so a feed or nappy change does not become a search halfway through the route.
  • If your group needs a lift route or wheelchair assistance, ask the entrance information staff for the current viewing route.
  • Re-entry is a separate procedure: ask staff before going outside for food and keep the required proof. Do not assume the original QR alone handles every return.

Around Tempozan

Main Kaiyukan building

After the aquarium, the marketplace and waterfront are nearby choices for a meal or a short walk. They are separate from the paid exhibition route.

  • Return via Osakako to Hommachi, then the Midosuji Line toward Namba. Check your next train rather than following the outgoing direction automatically.
  • If choosing accommodation, compare Namba for the rest of an Osaka trip with the Osakako side for a nearby aquarium stay. They are not walking-distance substitutes.
  • Leave onward reservations flexible enough for the walk and transfer. The photograph of the main building does not show the entrance queue for your booked day.
