Start at Jonggak

Use Jonggak on Seoul Line 1 and follow Exit 3. Save Insadong-gil as your walking destination; the district guide gives roughly three minutes to the area, not to every shop.
- Jonggak and Jongno 3-ga are different stations. Check the station name before leaving the train, and cross roads at marked crossings rather than following someone across traffic.
Find the main street

On the map, locate the southern end of Insadong-gil and walk north along the main shopping street. Keep it as your reference when exploring a side lane.
- A tea-house alley is not necessarily a through route. If a lane ends at a doorway or private courtyard, return to Insadong-gil; do not use a shop as a shortcut without permission.
Prepare the subway fare
A supported stored-value card or ordinary ticket covers the train journey. The optional Tmoney product below is airport collection, not an Insadong attraction ticket or unlimited pass.
- Match terminal, counter hours and card-only versus preloaded options before purchase. Already in Seoul? Local card purchase may be more practical. Shop purchases and workshops are paid separately.
Look for Ssamziegil

Use Ssamziegil, 44 Insadong-gil, as a named stop rather than assuming every courtyard is the same building. If open, browse the connected shopping levels and choose a shop or café independently.
- Ask before photographing merchandise or interiors. Photographs of past displays and tenants are location references, not today's stock or opening hours; confirm workshop sessions directly with the shop.
Finish near Anguk

Continue toward Insadong's northern end and look for Anguk Station Exit 6, on Line 3. This is a convenient one-way finish, but it is a different line from the Jonggak starting point.
- Choose your onward train from Anguk's next-station display. If you specifically need Line 1, compare walking back to Jonggak with a transfer instead of assuming the two exits share a station.
