Archival Maokong gondola cabin and line

Take the brown Wenhu MRT line to Taipei Zoo, BR 01. Leave the MRT and follow Maokong Gondola signs for roughly 350 metres to the gondola's Taipei Zoo Station. This is a separate facility, not a transfer through the MRT gates.

  • Do not confuse it with Taipei Zoo South gondola station. Zoo admission is separate unless explicitly included in your chosen package.

A single journey and a one-day gondola pass serve different plans. The linked basic option is a one-day pass; its 180-day voucher redemption period does not mean 180 days of rides.

  • For that option, show the QR voucher at a ticket exchange machine before entry. Machines are listed at Taipei Zoo, Taipei Zoo South and Maokong stations. Follow the actual voucher if you select another package.

Choose the cabin

An ordinary pass does not automatically include the glass-floor Crystal Cabin upgrade. The operator lists this as an extra charge per person per trip; the observed Klook basic option also excludes the upgrade.

  • Decide before joining a cabin queue and follow staff directions. Ordinary and Crystal cabins have different capacities. A shorter queue or an empty cabin is not guaranteed by buying online.

Ride to your stop

The passenger stations are Taipei Zoo, Taipei Zoo South, Zhinan Temple and Maokong. Read the destination and listen for the stop name; Maokong is the hilltop stop for the surrounding tea area.

  • Some installations are turning stations where passengers cannot disembark. Stay seated, follow staff instructions and do not touch door controls. Archive cabin photos show the type of space, not today's livery.

Plan the return

Before leaving the hilltop station, check the day's return service and weather notices. Allow time to walk back and queue. Rain, lightning or wind can suspend the gondola; the day pass does not guarantee a return cabin in all weather.

  • If suspended, ask staff for current road-transport options and confirm the stop and fare. Tea, meals and zoo admission are not included in the basic gondola pass. After redemption/use, refunds are restricted; read the selected option's terms before paying.
