Leave at Xiangshan R02

Take the Red Line south from Taipei Main R10 and leave at Xiangshan R02, after Taipei 101/World Trade Center R03. Confirm both the name and station code.
- The current official map also shows Guangci/Fengtian Temple R01 beyond Xiangshan. Do not stay aboard to the last stop merely because an older guide calls Xiangshan the terminus.
Find Exit 2 and the trail

From Exit 2 locate the Xiangshan Park side and Lane 150, Xinyi Road Section 5. Save the Xiangshan Hiking Trail entrance, then follow public park and street signs to the staircase trailhead.
- The station exit is not the summit. The approach walk and the uphill steps are separate parts; use the trailhead pin rather than simply walking toward the Taipei 101 building.
Prepare fare and kit
For a short metro return compare ordinary fares or an EasyCard with the linked MRT pass. Calendar-day and 24/48/72-hour options expire differently.
- Check collection, physical exchange and cancellation terms; airport pickup does not imply Airport MRT fare. The pass is not a guided hike or Taipei 101 observation ticket. Bring water and grippy footwear, and leave bulky luggage behind.
Choose a viewpoint

Read the trailhead map and choose one viewpoint before climbing. Rest on the stepped sections and stand aside in designated walking or viewing areas when taking photographs.
- Skyline photos do not make this a flat stroll. Do not force a summit within a fixed short time; turn back early if tired or if steps are wet. There is no need to imitate poses on exposed rocks.
Return by the same entrance

For a first visit, retrace your route to the saved trailhead. Side trails can emerge elsewhere, so leave enough daylight for the descent rather than assuming all paths return to this exit.
- At Xiangshan choose the northbound Tamsui direction, with R03 next, for Taipei Main. Check current trail closures and weather; a night-view photograph does not mean every stair is lit.
